As it turns out, the concept of a believer being assured of his right standing before God by virtue of his baptism is only as reformed as John Calvin:

    This is really encouraging to read, if I’m reading this correctly and not twisted or out of context, it sounds like Calvin would agree with Luther.

    In light of what you’ve shown me about Calvin, Cary may not do him justice, but he outlines the standard protestant dilemma of having faith in faith (he calls it reflective faith), and his solution to the dilemma is the sacraments.
